halloween comic

This is today's strip of PreTeena a comic written and inked by Allison Barrows. It's been around since 2001 though I just started reading it early this year.



This is the younger of the two daughters that the strip centers on. I like her attitude towards candy. I never outgrew my love of sugar and I view the day after Halloween as one of the big holidays of the year. I rarely buy less than 20 pounds of candy (on clearance) and this year was no exception! The only bad thing was that none of the stores I went to had any Smarties left. I really like Smarties. *sigh* But at least I got a lot of chocolate to help drown my sorrows. :-)

20 pounds of candy is A LOT!!! That's like, 10 kilos!!

I like Smartis too, Utenzi, but I didn't buy any this year. Maybe I will go by K-mart tomorrow and see if they have any left. Pathetic, isn't it?

I've given up on Michele's for a while. I got skipped 5 times today, 3 times in the last hour or so of the day. Pretty bad kharma.

awww, Utenzi, cheer up! Can't believe you buy some 10 kilos worth of candy! are they gone before Xmas? do you share? I definitely have an eating disorder, I go on very little sugar.

I love Smarties! Don't know if you guys have the same packaging as us but they've just changed ours after several decades of it being the same and it's just not right. I feel like a traitor to the original tubes to buy them in the new packaging!

This Halloween none came home with me out of 3 boxes of chocolates and chips. My elftovers I distributed at my workplace and leftovers to the head office, at the veterinarian office to staff where I showed up in costume too, and the reminder to a friend for her grandkids. Halloween's a blast.

I got a whole bagful of Smarties to give out because I DON'T like them! (they're just ok)

If I buy stuff I like, I'm tempted to start eating it before Halloween. For me, if it's not chocolate...I'm not interested!

Cute Comic! I love Halloween, the costumes, giving candy to the kids and of course begging some chocolate off my own kids to feed my habit, since I dont' buy chocolate to give out or there might be left-over temptation.

(I'm here by way of MaggiesFarm, a blogger I met early on in blogging, but I noticed we share about half of your blogroll!) No wonder your blogname sounds familiar. I've read your comments all over other places and enjoyed. (I'm one who reads the comment threads, too, not just the posts).
Now, I'm having a "need chocolate" attack, but my teen daughter did not go trick or treating this year lol.)

Nitroflex at home

I mentioned a few days ago that I'd purchased off of Craig's List an exercise machine. A Nitroflex, to be more specific, for the grand sum of $75. The boxes you see to the left were bought by the seller as discontinued merchandise over a year ago and stored in his back yard storage shed. You might be able to see some of the bugs and such that had made their homes on these boxes. I left them out on my deck for a few days before opening them to allow the insects to leave gracefully or die in the sun. The picture to the left is the pieces from the box, unboxed, and up in one of my upstairs bedrooms. For the most part it wasn't difficult to move it around though two pieces were heavy and a number of them were kinda long and bulky to be wandering about the house with. Surprisingly, this kit didn't require any extra tools. There were two allen keys and one combo wrench included in the boxes and that was all it took to put it together. ankle update

S ince a few people object to seeing my feet --poor misdirected souls--I have the two pictures below hidden behind links. Behold them at your own risk! *evil laugh* Actually they're not scary though the first one is a little colorful. T he first picture shows my ankle and foot from the side, as labeled. You can see a lot of general edema of the entire foot. There's also a good bit of discoloration of the ankle area and to a lesser degree the top of the foot all the way down to the toes. The side view is a lot worse in this regard than the top view. T he second picture shows the two feet from the top so you can compare the somewhat normal looking right foot to the injured left foot. There's not much abnormal color on this view but you can see the "sausage like" swelling of the left foot. It's this swelling that is causing my main problem--I can't get the foot into my boots and I need the boots to support the ankle. Damn Catch-22. Side view, looking inward ...

Ostrich poop found here

I took these pictures last Fall while visiting the NC Zoo. On the left you can see what appears to be a nice polite ostrich just wandering around. This impression soon turns out to be false when her dowdy tail feathers raise up and reveal a puckered anus. Ewwww! If you look carefully, you can see that she's made a deposit on the ground. More ewwww! Feel free to click on the image to make them bigger. Details can make all the difference in these shots. In other matters, aren't those really bony legs they have? And couldn't they have a little more color?
