deer commentaries

Image
Maybe that should be spelled "dear." It's kinda hard to determine. The picture is from a hike I did on Saturday. I got the picture just as I was leaving Eno River Park at 8:50pm. The deer were grazing near where I was parked. While there's only two deer in the picture there were 8 in all. Mostly males. And yes, it was getting a wee bit dark to be hiking in the woods. That last 20 minutes of trail had me doing some serious jogging. The "dear" versus "deer" part involves some Emails tossed around between me and JLee. I was teasing her about having to work on Saturday and she was teasing me about her having a dinner date afterwards and me.... not having one. Overall I think she won. Dammit. And speaking of dates, number 3 hasn't happened yet. Nope. Not on Friday, nor Saturday, and not even anything scheduled for Sunday. It's enough to make one wonder...

First Date PJ

Image
It's been a month since Julie and I broke up and today I had my first date. The "PJ" refers to "post Julie." I'd love to wax rhapsodic and talk about what a wonderful experience it was. I'd love to but it would be a friggin' LIE. Ye gods this was not good. The woman was a massive emotional bleeding wound. Her ex-husband had done a financial and emotional whoop-ass on her and she just couldn't stop talking about it. Yikes. I hope this isn't what dating is like. Those 4 months with Julie are looking better and better. As is, I don't know if I'll ever dare scoot out of my den here at home and go on another date. Anyone out there just want a casual sexual relationship? (girls only please) I hope you know I'm kidding. Sex is kinda nasty with all those liquids being tossed around. I only go through with that stuff for someone I really care about a lot. Or if she has huge... but I digress. How's that for a scary sight? I decided t...

Poetry in Motion

The title of this post is a wee bit sarcastic. You see, I went out to hear some live music tonight and actually was persuaded to dance. This was probably the first time I did that in over a decade---and I can assure you, it was anything but poetry in motion. The background on this goes back half a week. The person who invited me to hear this group, Saludos Compay , was supposed to have dinner with me this past Tuesday. But it didn't happen. At first it was shifted to lunch, but that day I worked non-stop until 7pm so both the lunch and dinner time slots wouldn't work and had to be canceled. Wednesday was attempted but also fell through, this time due to her schedule. Thursday was a no-go almost from the start---and up to this point we'd not even talked on the phone. Things were looking grim until a phone call with an invite to go to Open Eye Cafe and hear a Latin music band came through and saved the day.  *whew* Despite my lack of grace on the dance floor it was a lot of...

Cupid's Arrow

Image
I was wandering around the Internet tonight since sleep seems to be escaping me at the moment and I found an interesting site for dating and finding activity partners and what not. The place is called OKCupid and I'd seen surveys placed on blogs before from the site, but never followed any links back to the OKCupid site. From what I've seen in the past hour --in my admittedly sleep deprived and slightly incoherent state-- I really like the place. First of all it's free (Free! Free! Free!) which appeals to my sense of parsimony, and you allow others to "get to know you" by answering the standard type questions but also "off the wall" type questions that are submitted by experienced users of the site. One of the weirder of the questions appears to the left. I answered "yes" but I'd have some serious misgivings over anyone who wanted to do that! As you can probably guess by my wandering around a site like this, I am sans relationship once a...
