Welcome Back

Image
There's two television series returning next week after a long absence and it's time to say goodbye to Burn Notice for a while. The last episode for the second season is next Thursday, March 5th. Reaper is starting season 2 at long last on ABC, Tuesday, March 3. It was absent from the airwaves for nearly 10 months. Ray Wise portrays the Devil on the show and is very believable, as long as your version of the devil has good hair and no hooves. (see picture on left) The other show returning next week is Rules of Engagement which is starting its 3rd season on CBS, Monday, March 2. I really enjoy the single guy and primary couple but the younger couple annoys me. These roles are played by David Spade, Patrick Warburton and Megyn Price, Oliver Hudson and Bianca Kajlich, respectively. Spade and Warburton are particular good playing off of one another. And Megyn Price adds a delightful element of sexy comedy to the show. Price was the mom on Grounded for Life . Hudson and Kajlich,...

Burn Notice Returns

After a long 4 month break, Burn Notice is continuing their 2nd season tomorrow night at 10pm EST on USA Network . And it's about time! I've missed Michael Westen and Sam Axe. Fiona? Well, I could survive quite well without her. I don't mind the character, I've just never warmed up to the actress that plays the part. This past week USA has been reprising the first half of the second season (shows 1 through 9 as well as the 2-part season 1 closer) and they're going to have a Burn Notice marathon on Thursday from 6am to 5pm with all those episodes aired again for those who want to revel in the story line once more before the new shows start up again. Don't forget to program your DVRs to record the new episode "Do No Harm" at 10pm wherein Michael is paid a large amount of money to protect a family who is being targeted by international assassins. And since we're on the topic of TV shows, I really enjoy that show The Mentalist . It's mostly due...

I think I'd be a lot healthier if I went to sleep around 11pm like most people seem to. Exhibit A is below. It's a picture that I took at 2am today. I was reading in bed, naked 'cause it was hot, with a book propped up on my big belly and a bag of Cheetos at my side. Not a pretty picture! In a way it's almost like a mathematical equation. Cheetos + sedentary activity = big belly. Thought of that way, it's got a certain elegance to it. Hairy elegance, I s'pose. I watched the first episode of that new USA Network series In Plain Sight last night. It was a lot better than I had expected. I don't usually like Mary McCormack, who plays the lead character, Mary Shannon, but in this role she's very good. I hope the series lives up to the potential displayed in the first episode. But most of all, I'm looking forward to the start of the second season of Burn Notice (another USA network series) in July. Here's the show summary from the USA Network websi...

Is it a miracle?

Image
Some people might think of this as a miracle but I just call it overdue rain. This picture here is my backyard taken from the shelter of the door to my laundry room. I left work early today due to a sinus headache and pinched nerve in my back. I went to bed soon after getting home and now I find myself wide awake at midnight. Wonderful. We received some rain over the weekend, starting late on Saturday and continuing through today. I got soaked leaving Wal-mart Sunday night when a light rain decided to become a downpour whilst I was inside trying to find food. That, apparently, is a mistake late Sunday night. There was nothing attractive in the veggie department and the meat and bread areas had meager pickings as well. I left the store with just a few items--and a lot of rain. In case the rain wasn't obvious in the picture above, here's a closeup of the bird water dish. It was really coming down. We still have a huge rain deficit here in Eastern NC but this is definitely helping...

Of Heroes and Burn Notice

This past weekend, in an undisclosed suburban Atlanta location, in an unsecured garage, revealing documents were located by an agent known to but not controlled by yours truly. The documents reveal an entire year of my life that had been blocked from my memory by powers that are not immediately apparent. Details to follow unless shadowy forces intervene... If that seems a little cloak and dagger, that's just in homage to Burn Notice which had its last episode, a two hour season closer, last week. I watched it late last night and the spy thing is still resonating in my head. I really liked the show and was hoping that it'd be a mid-season replacement on USA Network but unfortunately at the end of the show it was stated that the next season would start in the Summer of 2008. That's 8 months away!!!! On the other hand, Heroes ' new season starts tonight and it's not a minute too soon. I think this is the most anticipated show of the season. I hope it doesn't fall...
