Future Trends

Back on the 17th I speculated about my future given that I seem to not be able to hold a relationship together. Several folk commented that I need to work harder at it. Personally I think I just need to wait it out. It'd not surprise me if Lee and I end up married or something way down the line--of course given her age I'd best not wait too long. :-) If you're curious about why I say that. It's a fate thing. Now normally I don't give "fate" a whole lot of credence but in this case there's just too many wild coincidences involved. Here's a little comparison so you know what I mean. Lee is 10 years older than I am. Her father worked for the park service so her childhood was one of frequent moves. She lived all over the place. In her teens, say 15-18 she lived in this very small town--only a few hundred people--in upstate NY. From there she left for college in a town 5 hours away in western NY, not far from Rochester. After college was a marriage, so...

That nasty ole belly fat

Here's an excerpt from a science journal that is kinda interesting. Apparently just having extra fat around your middle is enough to make you hungrier--which of course triggers eating and more fat. Fat wants company? It would appear to be so. Weird. Can your belly fat be making you hungrier? According to a recent issue of The FASEB Journal , the extra fat we carry around our middle could be making us hungrier, so we eat more, which in turn leads to even more belly fat. Dr. Yaiping Yang and his colleagues at the Lawson Health Research Institute, which is affiliated with The University of Western Ontario, found that abdominal fat tissue can produce a hormone that stimulates fat cell production. Yang calls the hormone Neuropeptide Y or NPY. Discovring that this hormone is produced by abdominal fat tissue was a surprise since previously NPY was believed to be produced only by the brain. Yang believes this novel finding may lead to new therapeutic targets for combating obesity. The trad...

When do I die?

According to the site Find Your Fate , I'm going to die in 2049. Despite their lovely questionnaire I think they have this wrong. I can't see my bod lasting much beyond 2022. If I do make it to 2049 it'll be a miserable existence. Too much stuff is breaking down now for me to have much left when I'm in my late 80s! Right now I'm having some problems with an eye infection, my shoulder hurts, and both knees ache in the cold. And then there's that IBS stuff. This isn't the body of someone that'll nearly make it to 90. According to the site: Your Armageddon's day is 0 NaN 2049 Supposedly I have 15,335 days, 1 hour and 18 minutes left. Give or take a bit. How long did the site give you to live--and do you want to stretch it out that far?
