Stormy Again
This is becoming a theme here. Bad weather.
Today started off sunny and very warm. Julie and I went to Chapel Hill early in the morning to avoid the heat. We went there to recycle my empty bottles and cans to get them out of the way and also to pick up some hamburger and veggies for grilling. Good thing, 'cause it hit 80f by around 9:30am.
I normally like to wait until June to turn on my A/C but this year I'm making an exception. In a slight plot twist, unbeknownst to us, temperature relief was on its way. Around 5pm the wind picked up and quite quickly wind gusts were tossing boxes and garbage cans around the neighborhood. My next door neighbor lost two of her Bradford Pear trees. And then the sound of thunder approached as the rain and lightning hit---and the power went out. And Duke Power didn't restore the juice for nearly 5 hours. As a result, we used the grill for dinner and ate out on the deck.
By that time the sky had cleared up quite a bit as you can see in this picture.
Later we lit candles in the house once it got dark and told scary stories --- not of ghosts, mind you, we told REALLY scary stories. Of ex-spouses! Those are the stories that can give you goose bumps!

Severe Thunderstorms Moving Through The Piedmont
Thunderstorms should be short-lived but could be severe in nature.
A strong line of thunderstorms will tear through the central viewing area between 4pm and 8pm. These storms are very strong and are capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph. You can also expect hail, frequent lightning and heavy rains. Although we have not seen any tornado warnings associated with these storms it remains a possibility.
The primary threat should move east of us by 9pm.
A severe thunderstorms watch is in effect for Wilkes, Davie, Yadkin, Surry, Stokes, Forsyth, Guilford, Rockingham, Caswell,Davidson, Randolph, Montgomery, Chatham, Moore and Lee Counties in NC and for Patrick, Henry and Pittsylvania in VA. This watch is in effect until 9pm.

Weather forecasts here suggested a scenario similar to your weather for yesterday, but everything missed us -- mostly stayed to the south, but some violent weather also went by to the north. Not that I'm complaining. It was a pretty nice day -- just more humid than I wanted. Once the storms passed the humidity dropped and we had a very pleasant night. :-)
