self-portrait
I think I'd be a lot healthier if I went to sleep around 11pm like most people seem to.
Exhibit A is below. It's a picture that I took at 2am today. I was reading in bed, naked 'cause it was hot, with a book propped up on my big belly and a bag of Cheetos at my side. Not a pretty picture!
In a way it's almost like a mathematical equation. Cheetos + sedentary activity = big belly. Thought of that way, it's got a certain elegance to it. Hairy elegance, I s'pose.
I watched the first episode of that new USA Network series In Plain Sight last night. It was a lot better than I had expected. I don't usually like Mary McCormack, who plays the lead character, Mary Shannon, but in this role she's very good. I hope the series lives up to the potential displayed in the first episode. But most of all, I'm looking forward to the start of the second season of Burn Notice (another USA network series) in July.
Here's the show summary from the USA Network website:

In Plain Sight is an all-new crime drama from USA Network starring Mary McCormack as Mary Shannon, a U.S. Marshal attached to the highly secretive Federal Witness Protection Program (WITSEC). While Mary loves her job, she knows better than anyone that it's not easy leading a double life—especially since getting shot at on a regular basis is all in a day's work.
Mary Shannon, who is based in the greater Albuquerque/Santa Fe area, protects and manages relocated Federal Witnesses who come from all over the country. The witnesses under her care can be anything from career criminals, congenital liars, thieves and murderers to those who have had the misfortune of witnessing or falling victim to a crime. For the innocents, testifying means leaving behind everything and everyone they know, cutting off all contact, changing identities and relocating to the unfamiliar southwest to build a new life as the reward for their good deed. But no matter what walk of life—or what side of the law—these people come from, they all have one thing in common: Someone wants them dead.

Reading in bed is always the thing to do -- not necessarily naked though; in fact, I prefer to at least be wearing undies and a t-shirt. Snacks are also good -- but Cheetos are kind of messy for reading in bed...
Didn't the Dead Zone end... fini?
