bookcase meme

The lovely Diane over at Martinis for Two invited me to do a meme.

The theme is what's on your bookcases. Well, mostly books in my house. As you can see in the following pictures, I have a lot of books. 3 bookcases of them in my upstairs storage room, another bookcase of hardcovers in the upstairs landing, another bookcase of hardcovers in the living room, cookbooks in the downstairs hallway, and finally more hardcovers in the bedroom--along with some fleece socks, camera batteries, a box of candles, and some bug spray. The bedroom bookcase attracts some clutter.

I'll pass this meme on to Liz at Library Tavern, cause she's a librarian, and to Sassy cause I hear she's got a lot of books. Enjoy!

FINALLY....someone with as many books as me!!! Aren't books wonderful? Don't they feel good, smell good and the pages make such a glorious sound when turned!!!!

I've been gathering books to give away to a book sale event. Some I just can't part with, but others just lie around. I'm trying to deal with one of the dog's appreciation of them... she's decided that when I'm done, they are hers. Not all of them, but some are definitely favorites. She's chewed up a few, but mostly just hoards them. It's kind of funny to find her in her bed with a few books -- just like me!

You should consider diminishing your supply, Dave. :-)

Michele sent me, That's a lot of books, though I bet I have more! (If you count my kid's books- most of which were mine before they were theirs & so still count!) I might have to take some pictures later myself!
Of course, in my house, the shelves are nowhere near as neat, I can straighten them up but within a few days they're back to 'normal' with people's cups, homework & various other random spoor tossed on them.

Michele sent me today! How've you been? I'm about to go through my bookcases and get rid of a bunch of books. I've got the NY apartment and there's not enough room to keep every book I've ever read. I wish I could. Damn, I love books!

I actually think that your book collection might rival mine! I am under orders from my husband to get rid of half of them - the new house simply does not have enough room for all of them! I am ok with selling some of them, cause we need to make room for that future baby! Besides, they have all been in storage for the last year, and I have not missed every single one.

Nitroflex at home

I mentioned a few days ago that I'd purchased off of Craig's List an exercise machine. A Nitroflex, to be more specific, for the grand sum of $75. The boxes you see to the left were bought by the seller as discontinued merchandise over a year ago and stored in his back yard storage shed. You might be able to see some of the bugs and such that had made their homes on these boxes. I left them out on my deck for a few days before opening them to allow the insects to leave gracefully or die in the sun. The picture to the left is the pieces from the box, unboxed, and up in one of my upstairs bedrooms. For the most part it wasn't difficult to move it around though two pieces were heavy and a number of them were kinda long and bulky to be wandering about the house with. ankle update

S ince a few people object to seeing my feet --poor misdirected souls--I have the two pictures below hidden behind links. Behold them at your own risk! *evil laugh* Actually they're not scary though the first one is a little colorful. T he first picture shows my ankle and foot from the side, as labeled. You can see a lot of general edema of the entire foot. There's also a good bit of discoloration of the ankle area and to a lesser degree the top of the foot all the way down to the toes. The side view is a lot worse in this regard than the top view. T he second picture shows the two feet from the top so you can compare the somewhat normal looking right foot to the injured left foot. There's not much abnormal color on this view but you can see the "sausage like" swelling of the left foot. It's this swelling that is causing my main problem--I can't get the foot into my boots and I need the boots to support the ankle. Damn Catch-22. Side view, looking inward ...

Ostrich poop found here

I took these pictures last Fall while visiting the NC Zoo. On the left you can see what appears to be a nice polite ostrich just wandering around. This impression soon turns out to be false when her dowdy tail feathers raise up and reveal a puckered anus. Ewwww! If you look carefully, you can see that she's made a deposit on the ground. More ewwww! Feel free to click on the image to make them bigger. Details can make all the difference in these shots. In other matters, aren't those really bony legs they have? And couldn't they have a little more color?
