visiting relatives bearing a gift

Renee's parents came over to my house to visit with her and also bring her a gift. The present was a Christmas decoration that her mother had made using some Xmas lights inside a glass block with a big wire rimmed ribbon on top.

Yes, that's it over to the left.

They came over around 11am and then at noon we watched the UNC vs U of Kentucky basketball game and a little of the Wake Forest Football game against GA Tech afterwards. In both cases the NC teams won. Naturally. LOL There was much rejoicing when UNC won though admittedly it wasn't one of their better played games--and Tyler Hansbrough (6'9" Forward) kinda sucked, which is rather unusual since he's one of the top players in the country.

Towards the end of the football game dinner was ready and we sat down to eat. I put a Boston Butt Pork Roast into my slow cooker in the morning so it was ready around 3:30pm and we had that with sides of mashed potatoes, Japanese snow peas, and a bowl of the aromatic veggies that I'd had cooking in with the pork roast.

It was a nice visit and it gave me incentive to clean my bathrooms and clear away some of the rubble from everyday life. I should have people visit more often. My house would certainly look nicer!

From the photo, it kind of looks like a Christmassy nightlight. Maybe it'll help Santa find his way to your tree!

Thanks for coming by my blog yesterday, Cool picture, Isn't it nice how you can just put a pork roast in & forget about it? I think it's the best meal for company because you don't have to fuss over it.

That's a very cool light thing! And relatives are such a good excuse for potty cleaning. My mom just visited last week.

Michele sent me...nice to meet you!

That is a really neat decoration that you got.

I know what you mean about keeping the house clean for company. It makes us vacuum the carpet, wash the dishes, and all those little things that we put off because we can simply do them later.

I can't tell WHAT that is, but it's the thought that counts... right??

I have a nice surprise for you in Cyberia, and the game offered up an even better bonus!

Thanks for stopping by Utenzi.

This is one of my favorite times of the year, not just because of the snow but college football! Of course, here I have to root for UofI -- it's a family thing.

I love the Christmas light gift, very cool :)

That certainly is unique!
It was great to see the joy in the Wake Forest camp after the game. Oklahoma won as well and if not for the complete debacle of officiating at the Oregon game that gave it to the Ducks, OU might be considered for the championship game.

That lit-up glass block is lovely. I've always loved GB, and resolve to try to do a better job of capturing it in pictures.

Glad you had a nice day with relatives. I think that's what I love most about this season: it brings us all closer together with those who matter.
