failure to launch and big trouble
I watched two DVDs so far this week. I got them at the library and have to return them tomorrow. It's nice to have a deadline like that since otherwise I might never get around to watching them.
The movies were Failure to Launch with Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker as well as Big Trouble, a movie based on Dave Barry's book of the same name. Big Trouble had quite a cast (Tim Allen, Rene Russo, Stanley Tucci, Dennis Farina, Janeane Garofalo, Jason Lee etc.) but the plot was a mite thin despite all the madcap adventures. Failure to Launch had no real plot, it was just one more movie that had girl meet boy, girl has reasons not to love boy, girl ends up in love with boy as its basis. It's a very hackneyed approach and I doubt most people will like it--but I did. Those romantic comedies--even bad ones--just get me. LOL I liked Big Trouble also but it was really silly--and if you're familiar with Dave Barry, you should be expecting silliness. He's only written two novels but his extensive columns for the Miami Herald illustrate his sense of humor and these novels are in that vein. If you like his writing, you'll stand a chance of liking the movie. I did.
So, a thumb up for each movie from me but they're not for everyone. If you watch them, try to empty your mind of all thoughts first. Just a warning!
On the reading front, I just started a nonfiction book called Nonzero: The Logic of Human Destiny and I'm half way through Red Light by T Jefferson Parker. Red Light is readable but to me the characters seem poorly written and actualized which really spoils the book for me. I'll slog through to the end but I doubt I'll read anything by Parker again. The Nonzero book is quite good so far, I'm happy to say.

Not sure if I'll add those books to my reading list or not! You'll have to give us a full overview when you're finished.
:o)
And no. I am not pregnant!

Nonzero sounds fascinating, let me know what you think when you've finished reading it.
