New look for the old blog
Well, here it is. A very new look. I made the template a lot simpler though for some evil reason the CSS gave me all sorts of problems with the color definitions. I finally had to wipe all of the CSS and just rewrite it.
I doubt I'll keep this version of the blog very long. Maybe until the end of May. No longer than that. I like the template and might keep it with just slight changes but the picture will be changed soon. I might even make 5 or so headers and cycle through them on a frequent basis. I've never written a CSS based theme but I might go that route if I can figure out how to do it. I'm getting to be a pretty old dog to be learning new tricks, y'see. I might not be able to wrap my head around it.
The old look is over there on the left. It was only 800 pixels wide which was too narrow. The current one has a header that is 960 pixels wide but the table underneath isn't limited to that size, unlike the old format that was set at 800 pixels.
The old format was also much more dependent on image files using them for the page background and also the background of the main part of the table. This one is simply my header with a table underneath that just has two columns and one row. Simple as can be!
By the way, the pictures in the current header are all homegrown. The yellow flower on the left is growing outside under my kitchen window, the flowers on the right are from a vine growing on a bird feeder that I've been taking many pictures of for my photoblog, and the cat in the middle was photographed on my back deck last week. It's not mine, it just visits me hoping to catch a bird. It's a mean ole cat--but very smart.
UPDATE: I added a new footer on here tonight. It's an inverted and filtered version of the top third of my header. I like the colors and abstract quality of it. :-)

Is the cat always mean, or is he just hungry?
Of course all cats can be mean sometimes, Bella stepped on my bladder this morning before I was ready to get up out of bed. And when I kept pushing her away - she started hissing and whining about it. Then of course she came over and started purring when she saw my hand. "Pet me! Pet me, let's be friends." Of course, she might not even known I was the one pushing her off of me. Maybe she thought the blanket was doing it.
Peace..............
Cheers!
One thing, the banner at the bottom of the template, the writing is upside down!!

here from Michele's this morning!
I'm considering re-vamping the rustbelt... I haven't gotten a judges ruling on how difficult white text on black is to the visual palate.

Move the cat down and put the Utenzi top right, then the cat is looking at the title. More memorable.
Also, use the typeface enhancements like your old header so that the text stands out from the header. Image bevel etc.
Just being friendly, its good already!
