snow in North Carolina

Yes, that's snow you see in that picture. It really does snow down here.


On the other hand, it doesn't snow often and you sure don't see it sticking! Think about it, my neighbors in northern climes. There's still plenty of room for y'all down here. LOL

I took this picture a week ago. It was last Sunday and we had snow flurries for a few hours. Some stuck to parts of my roof and a good bit on my truck but the ground never got any accumulation. I wasn't upset--snow is pretty as Hell but still not worth keeping around. LOL

The reason I post this now is that while it's 3am on Sunday and still 50 degrees outside, we're supposed to have a high of 40 today which means the mercury is about to drop precipitously as a new front comes into town. We might be seeing more snow since there's several days of lows in the 20s for the week and possibly even in the high teens. Brrrrr!

This picture here is of my backyard a little earlier when it had just started snowing. No accumulations then, and no accumulation 3 hours later when I took the picture in the front yard. Gotta love it!

My Lordy, this is pretty amazing...it's like a snow that ens up looking like rain! How often does it do that???

It got very overcast here today and colled down a bit tonight...it almost looked like it was going to rain...which they say it will be doing Sunday Night-Monday....But, they are rarely right about these things here...(LOL)

We don't have snow in my country. I am looking forward to our class grand reunion in Washington before the end of this year. I am a nurse and 25 out of 32 in our class are in the United States that is why they decided to hold it there.

We moved from Ohio to California a year and a half ago and I don't miss the snow and cold at all. If I want snow I can just drive up into the mountains.

Snow in NC? Quite unusual, I am sure.

When I have visited Charlotte and Raleigh, the overwhelming impression I had was of heat and quite some humidity.

Rashbre, I'm at my girlfriend's place right now which is just a few miles outside of Raleigh so you were near here. I live 50 miles away tho--towards Charlotte.

Right now I'm in Southern California. I've been avoiding the weather reports for NYC, dreading what I'll return to in a couple of days. I can't believe it's snowing in NC!

Snow that doesn't stick is the best thing about living in Texas, as well (well, other than the amazing rainstorms throughout the year).

What lovely pictures!

As to ice? I don't mind it so much. What I mind are the abundance of people on the road who don't know how to drive on it.

Nitroflex at home

I mentioned a few days ago that I'd purchased off of Craig's List an exercise machine. A Nitroflex, to be more specific, for the grand sum of $75. The boxes you see to the left were bought by the seller as discontinued merchandise over a year ago and stored in his back yard storage shed. You might be able to see some of the bugs and such that had made their homes on these boxes. I left them out on my deck for a few days before opening them to allow the insects to leave gracefully or die in the sun. The picture to the left is the pieces from the box, unboxed, and up in one of my upstairs bedrooms. For the most part it wasn't difficult to move it around though two pieces were heavy and a number of them were kinda long and bulky to be wandering about the house with. Surprisingly, this kit didn't require any extra tools. There were two allen keys and one combo wrench included in the boxes and that was all it took to put it together. ankle update

S ince a few people object to seeing my feet --poor misdirected souls--I have the two pictures below hidden behind links. Behold them at your own risk! *evil laugh* Actually they're not scary though the first one is a little colorful. T he first picture shows my ankle and foot from the side, as labeled. You can see a lot of general edema of the entire foot. There's also a good bit of discoloration of the ankle area and to a lesser degree the top of the foot all the way down to the toes. The side view is a lot worse in this regard than the top view. T he second picture shows the two feet from the top so you can compare the somewhat normal looking right foot to the injured left foot. There's not much abnormal color on this view but you can see the "sausage like" swelling of the left foot. It's this swelling that is causing my main problem--I can't get the foot into my boots and I need the boots to support the ankle. Damn Catch-22. Side view, looking inward ...

Ostrich poop found here

I took these pictures last Fall while visiting the NC Zoo. On the left you can see what appears to be a nice polite ostrich just wandering around. This impression soon turns out to be false when her dowdy tail feathers raise up and reveal a puckered anus. Ewwww! If you look carefully, you can see that she's made a deposit on the ground. More ewwww! Feel free to click on the image to make them bigger. Details can make all the difference in these shots. In other matters, aren't those really bony legs they have? And couldn't they have a little more color?
