It's been a few weeks since I've written an update about Stephanie Davies. Once again she's my tenant at Blog Explosion and her points are allowing me to fight battles on Battle of the Blogs.

Since the last time I mentioned Stephanie, her blog has undergone large changes. There's the cosmetic aspect--she's got a new design that is a big departure from her former design. You can get a feel for it from the small thumbnail on the side of my blog. She's also changed her own body design a bit. She had her eyebrow pierced! And there's a little story behind that which you might want to read--especially if you're a guy!

Stephanie has a very organized schedule to her blog. She'll have posts about things that grab her fancy but she also has a regular set of topics that coexist on her blog:
  • Monday: Site/Product News
  • Tuesday: Rants
  • Wednesday: Site Review
  • Thursday: Weekly Contest
  • Friday: Observations
  • Saturday: Ask the Tarot
  • Sunday: Kudos

The newest of these topics is "Ask the Tarot", it just started this week. Formerly it was "Photo of the Week" but not enough people submitted photos so now Stephanie wants her readers to submit questions for her to answer via her Tarot cards. One fortunate individual a week will get a free reading. Of course if you're in a hurry you can always pay for one of her regular readings.

Stephanie's Thursday contest this week is a great one for bloggers:

This week’s contest, in honor of my new blog design, is going to be awarding one lucky winner with a new blog or website re-design. The rules for this week’s contest are very straightforward and simple. Post a comment on this entry telling me why your blog or personal website deserves to win a new design. “Because I can’t afford to pay for one” is a good, if somewhat obvious response, however I’m looking for a bit more detail.

Her deadline for this contest is Wednesday Feb 1 and I'll tell you one thing, being in the middle of doing my own redesign...it's one Hell of a lot easier to let a professional do it!! This design stuff is soooo annoying! Okay, and a little fun too.

I've been reading Stephanie for a while, and I wholeheartedly agree with your rationale for featuring her here. Her blog is a wonderful read, and I always come away from a visit with my thinking cap slightly askew. She never fails to get ya thinking.

Can't wait to see the new design!

I wish that I was good at that whole "site design stuff" where as I'm only good at spaghetti carbonara and sudoku ... doesn't really cut it! Does it? I am going to go and "beg" at Stephanie's!

Leo (on the left hand side of my photo) is a Maine Coone too, well at least half Maine Coone... he's certainly more Maine Coone than anything else! We haven't had him long, but he's a wonderful cat. (I rescued him, he's about 8 months now).

Nitroflex at home

I mentioned a few days ago that I'd purchased off of Craig's List an exercise machine. A Nitroflex, to be more specific, for the grand sum of $75. The boxes you see to the left were bought by the seller as discontinued merchandise over a year ago and stored in his back yard storage shed. You might be able to see some of the bugs and such that had made their homes on these boxes. I left them out on my deck for a few days before opening them to allow the insects to leave gracefully or die in the sun. The picture to the left is the pieces from the box, unboxed, and up in one of my upstairs bedrooms. For the most part it wasn't difficult to move it around though two pieces were heavy and a number of them were kinda long and bulky to be wandering about the house with. Surprisingly, this kit didn't require any extra tools. There were two allen keys and one combo wrench included in the boxes and that was all it took to put it together. ankle update

S ince a few people object to seeing my feet --poor misdirected souls--I have the two pictures below hidden behind links. Behold them at your own risk! *evil laugh* Actually they're not scary though the first one is a little colorful. T he first picture shows my ankle and foot from the side, as labeled. You can see a lot of general edema of the entire foot. There's also a good bit of discoloration of the ankle area and to a lesser degree the top of the foot all the way down to the toes. The side view is a lot worse in this regard than the top view. T he second picture shows the two feet from the top so you can compare the somewhat normal looking right foot to the injured left foot. There's not much abnormal color on this view but you can see the "sausage like" swelling of the left foot. It's this swelling that is causing my main problem--I can't get the foot into my boots and I need the boots to support the ankle. Damn Catch-22. Side view, looking inward ...

Ostrich poop found here

I took these pictures last Fall while visiting the NC Zoo. On the left you can see what appears to be a nice polite ostrich just wandering around. This impression soon turns out to be false when her dowdy tail feathers raise up and reveal a puckered anus. Ewwww! If you look carefully, you can see that she's made a deposit on the ground. More ewwww! Feel free to click on the image to make them bigger. Details can make all the difference in these shots. In other matters, aren't those really bony legs they have? And couldn't they have a little more color?
