Long term readers will probably recognize that troublesome feline that I call Bad Penny and my girlfriend the cat owner refers to as Pippin. Faded in the background you can vaguely see Orrin, one of her other cats. Faded in the foreground is something we won't talk about. LOL

I was reading a book in bed the other week and the cats were keeping me company. Awwwwwwwww. For some reason Pippin, the troublemaker, finds me irresistable. I find him to be too persistant.

I really don't like cats despite any evidence to the contrary!

In other news, it's just after midnight here and the temp is 34--it's supposed to go down to around 26 and they're calling for some snow. Dammit, I didn't move south to see snow!

Despite the evidence, huh? I think you are a closet cat lover. I think you actually like them more than I do, which isn't saying so much. But I don't profess to have an avertion to them, either!

Sorry about the snow... you should move north again and we could "weather" the storms together. We had snow Sunday morning (a little more than 2 inches), that was a nuisance to deal with. We had some tonight, but for a change we are in the low accumulation area. Though it's snowed off and on since around 6 pm, there's really only a coating out there. There could be more before morning, but it really shouldn't amount to much.

Nice photo David! Sure can see that that cat is nervous and wary around such a confirmed cat-hater.. LOL! He even brought reinforcements to help defend himself from your evil ways, hahahaha

It took me several hours of computer tinkering yesterday to finally figure out that nope, Lack O Blogs was not my fault but theirs, (I'm obsessive about computer sucurity and efficency and have shared this one with a teenager for weeks now, wince)

On the plus side, it was mightily entertaining tinkering, and I learned something about my computer's guts, wheee. I never get enough comments to notice a fall-off, but it sure annoyed me to be unable to get here... (or there, or there, or there..)

Meliss, I might be mistaken about this since I don't know all that much about pets--but I suspect Chihuahuas are really cats with a thin dog disguise on top. That would explain the similar sleeping position, at least. ;-)

Maggie, Exactly. They are nervous around me. I admire your strong grasp of the situation though the sarcasm isn't as admirable. :-p I didn't have your worries about the computer since I went thru my blog list quickly and realized it was just the blogger addresses that were affected.

Teresa, the northeast can be very pretty but the cold outweighs the beauty. Brrrrr. This morning it was 28f when I got up. I hate that shit!

Nitroflex at home

I mentioned a few days ago that I'd purchased off of Craig's List an exercise machine. A Nitroflex, to be more specific, for the grand sum of $75. The boxes you see to the left were bought by the seller as discontinued merchandise over a year ago and stored in his back yard storage shed. You might be able to see some of the bugs and such that had made their homes on these boxes. I left them out on my deck for a few days before opening them to allow the insects to leave gracefully or die in the sun. The picture to the left is the pieces from the box, unboxed, and up in one of my upstairs bedrooms. For the most part it wasn't difficult to move it around though two pieces were heavy and a number of them were kinda long and bulky to be wandering about the house with. Surprisingly, this kit didn't require any extra tools. There were two allen keys and one combo wrench included in the boxes and that was all it took to put it together. ankle update

S ince a few people object to seeing my feet --poor misdirected souls--I have the two pictures below hidden behind links. Behold them at your own risk! *evil laugh* Actually they're not scary though the first one is a little colorful. T he first picture shows my ankle and foot from the side, as labeled. You can see a lot of general edema of the entire foot. There's also a good bit of discoloration of the ankle area and to a lesser degree the top of the foot all the way down to the toes. The side view is a lot worse in this regard than the top view. T he second picture shows the two feet from the top so you can compare the somewhat normal looking right foot to the injured left foot. There's not much abnormal color on this view but you can see the "sausage like" swelling of the left foot. It's this swelling that is causing my main problem--I can't get the foot into my boots and I need the boots to support the ankle. Damn Catch-22. Side view, looking inward ...

Ostrich poop found here

I took these pictures last Fall while visiting the NC Zoo. On the left you can see what appears to be a nice polite ostrich just wandering around. This impression soon turns out to be false when her dowdy tail feathers raise up and reveal a puckered anus. Ewwww! If you look carefully, you can see that she's made a deposit on the ground. More ewwww! Feel free to click on the image to make them bigger. Details can make all the difference in these shots. In other matters, aren't those really bony legs they have? And couldn't they have a little more color?
