ankle update
Since a few people object to seeing my feet--poor misdirected souls--I have the two pictures below hidden behind links. Behold them at your own risk! *evil laugh* Actually they're not scary though the first one is a little colorful.
The first picture shows my ankle and foot from the side, as labeled. You can see a lot of general edema of the entire foot. There's also a good bit of discoloration of the ankle area and to a lesser degree the top of the foot all the way down to the toes. The side view is a lot worse in this regard than the top view.
The second picture shows the two feet from the top so you can compare the somewhat normal looking right foot to the injured left foot. There's not much abnormal color on this view but you can see the "sausage like" swelling of the left foot. It's this swelling that is causing my main problem--I can't get the foot into my boots and I need the boots to support the ankle. Damn Catch-22.
Side view, looking inward
Side by side view, looking downward
In other news, I'm out of my "easy" frozen-type food so I'm going to have to start cooking. I live 20 minutes away from any supermarkets and I hate to limp around a store anyway so I've not been to a store in over a week. On the plus side, I have enough food around the place to survive for months easily. I have this thing about food. LOL
Today's late lunch will be pork cutlets--I just took them out of the freezer--and for breakfast I'll make up some rice and noodles. For dinner I'll probably finish off the pork and have some hamburgers out on the grill. It's supposed to get into the mid 80s today--very warm for this time of year. The normal high is around 68.
An aside, the hamburgers I buy are these ones from Flanders Provision Company. They're premade patties and cost about a buck a pound. The downside is that they're made from beef hearts not regular meat. I think they taste great but my girlfriend is grossed out by the fact they're organ meat but as I point out, the heart is mostly muscle!

Just for the record--I'm going with your girlfriend on the beef heart burgers.
I'm not real thrilled about the beef heart burgers either. I'm sure I'd eat them if I didn't know what they were, but do try to avoid organ meat. I know it's really good for you though, so I'm sure they're of benefit. However, you don't supplement leftover pork with hamburger, dear! You are supposed to add a vegetable -- a salad, some carrots or green beans, maybe even some fruit. More meat isn't necessary, especially for a man who doesn't need the extra iron. You knew that though....
Teresa, are you a scientologist or something? :-p Sorry, Tazz.
I feel for you...as I said before I sprained my own ankle pretty bad 2 weeks before I was set for a 3 week sabbatical in Mass by the ocean. I really missed those walks on the beach! They were short hobbles...to say the least.
I have a good acupunturist at least.
Michele sent me :)
Glad you're (yes, I did that on purpose) ankle is stabilizing. I hope it starts to feel better soon.
Regarding your comment on my blog, I have a question for you:
Which Jack London novels have you just read, Utenzi?
I imagine you enjoyed the stories as a child as they are so adventurous but I think that London has a lot more going on under the surface as well.
I'm finished Sea Wolf but it takes me awhile to write the review.
Here from Michele's.
I truly hope you start to feel a lot of improvement soon. That just looks SO painful.
I have to say that I'm with girlfriend on the beef heart burgers. Don't they dry up terribly on the grill? There can't be much (if any) fat in them!
Weary, they are fairly lean but as long as you just flip them once and don't poke at them with a fork they come out great. And they don't shrink!
