That's me down there. Not much detail and there's a reason for that, but first... I've not been feeling very well this week and most days I've fallen asleep soon after getting home from work. Which meant that I wasn't able to sleep very much late at night when I should have been sleeping. What does this have to do with the picture? Nothing really. I just wanted to complain. Well, okay there is a little overlap here. I went to bed early last night at 1am and that had me waking up at 5:30am which is VERY early for me. More like time to go to bed than time to wake up. So to keep awake I cleaned out my fridge and freezer of really old stuff. And went to the landfill before work with two bags of garbage. Since I was being so good about errands, after work I got around to doing a few others. For quite some time I'd intended on getting my hair cut and today I did it. Finally. I've been unusually productive so far today. I hope to continue the run, but knowing me---I'd not bet on it. The picture below is from a Meetup hike I did today in the Johnston Mill Nature Preserve. I'd not been there before though I've done many hikes in Duke Forest, just a few miles away. I woke up quite early this morning and watched some television while it was still dark, and then once it was light out I put out some seed for the birds and also gathered up all the garbage around the house and put it out in the bin. One of the many domestic tasks that I tend to put off. Once that was done it was about time to depart for the 10am hike. It's about a 30 minute drive and I was trying out a new route across the county. It turned out to be a lot shorter though not much faster. What the map didn't tell me was that some of the roads I needed to follow weren't paved and that slowed things down quite a bit. You'd think online maps would mention details like t...

Don't you just hate all those damn errands that make a household run?  I was going to go hike at Eno River today before it got too hot--but guilt set in. I just had too much crap on my to-do list and so no hike. Maybe tomorrow tho. That's a close up of a snake skin I found while hiking at Eno River last week. It was still damn and flexible so I figure that snake hadn't shed it very long before. Too bad I missed him--he must have been a big one. On the other hand, they're grumpy while shedding... So far today I updated my IBS blog, first things first--after all, then gathered garbage together and made a run to the landfill. Next up was my color wash which was way overdue. It actually exceeded the capacity of my washer so I'll have to do another one soon.   *sigh*  And then came a run to the gas station since I'm out of gas for my mower.
