On my way home...

On my way home from work today I stopped at a used furniture shop. A few weeks ago I got several items there so I decided to try my luck again. This time I spent about the same amount but only got one item. I'll post a picture once I get it cleaned up.

When Lyle--the owner--and I were carrying the buffet out to my truck I noticed a lovely spider. It was just wrapping up a meal and I commented on how pretty it was. Lyle had been watching it during the day and said the meal was a beetle that had been caught just a few minutes before. Spiders wrap fast! In any case, here's the beaut that I photographed once the buffet was in the bed of my truck.

I have seen spiders just like that in my backyard. I think theyr are called "writing spiders" because of the heavy white lines in their webs.

Beautiful picture! i don't mind spiders unless they build their web across my door and I get a face full as I stumble out on the way to work! Here from Michele's.

Don't be scared, Heather. It's only Writing Spider--like Judy mentioned above. They're safe though they sure look 'serious'. Especially to that beetle.

Thanks for the name, Judy. You're quite right.

I'm with you Sophie. Nothing gets a morning off to a worse start than walking out my back door and right into a spider web. Nasty!

I always love your visits, Yaeli. Stop by anytime! LOL

Hey again, Heather. Nice to see you at the close of the day as well.

You did a great job capturing the spider...but it still gives me the creeps.

The hair is standing up on my arms and I have chills up and down my spine.

Uugg! You should see me when I teach the kids in Kindergarten about Bugs and Creepy Crawlers. I'm like that all month!

Spiders aren't my favorite but you have some beautiful pics. I love the webs myself. They are so divine to look at. Thanks for stopping by earlier. Have a great weekend.

I'm sorry about the subject matter, Morah, Mommy & Keb. Maybe the next post about my buffet will be easier on the eye--and stomach. Bugs do bother some people.

Wow, that's a beautiful shot. :) I love spiders that take the time to build webs. I've never understood people that just tore the webs apart. Bah.

I'm back from Michele's but would have stopped by to thank you for the comments you left on my site earlier anyway. I had to go look up what a Rube Goldberg device was, so I learned something from you as well!

This spider photo is incredible. Though I admit I had to run back up to the top of your page to see just where you lived. I had to know if there was a chance of running into a spider like that in my neighborhood! I thought I was safe since you live so much farther south than me, but it turns out they range from lower Canada and throughout the 48 states. Did you know it's also called a zipper spider? The things you find with Google...

I'd never heard it called a zipper spider before. I learned something new too. Thanks for your comments--and I'm sorry you now have an additional species of spider to worry about, Laura.
