A Computer Joke and some Cells

Isn't that pretty? Not much specific binding but I liked the way it looked. The cells that stained dark blue are red blood cells and they're surrounded by the blood vessel that they were flowing in at the time the tissue section was taken out and fixed.

Here's the joke:

I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Richard, the 11 year old next door whose bedroom looks like tech heaven, and asked him to come over. Richard clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was walking away, I called after him, "So, what was wrong?"

He replied, "It was an ID ten T error."

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, "An ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again."

Richard grinned. "You've never heard of an ID ten T error before?''

"No," I replied.

"Write it down," he said, "and I think you'll figure it out.........."

So I wrote down: I D 1 0 T

Damn kids.

And Teresa up in PA wanted me to mention that the Phillies finally repeated their 1980 World Series win. Now they have two wins, 28 years apart. It might also be noted that of the 16 original baseball franchises the Phillies were the last team to win a World Series and the last team to repeat the win. Just saying...

Teresa also wanted me to mention Hamel's face and Werth's butt. I don't know anything about Werth, butt-wise or otherwise, but I have seen Cole Hamels pitch a few times and when he's on the mound he's a force to be reckoned with. In fact, he was named as the Most Valuable Player of the 2008 series by Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig amidst a torrent of boos from the stands. Apparently the Philadelphia fans were still a little out of sorts over the game delay--the boos were directed at Selig, not Hamels.

Thanks, Dave! There should have been a picture of Cole Hamels (He's a cutie -- and that scowl when he pitches!). I didn't expect an example of Jayson Werth's butt -- I won't comment on that one.

There are a lot of superstitions regarding why Philadelphia sports teams struggle with Championships -- I'm sure there are traditions in other places too. The biggest one is the curse of Billy Penn.

The statue of WIlliam Penn used to be the highest thing in Philadelphia, but they changed that stipulation and started building larger buildings. And the fortunes of the teams tanked. Basically, you don't mess with William Penn, not even decorating him in team colors. You have to leave him alone.

Then the Comcast building was built and they strapped a small statue of William Penn on the roof. He's called "Little Billy". So, is the curse broken?

There are other things you do and don't do during a championship, but the statue and no-parade-until-after-the-championship rule are the two biggest.
