Emmys and food

Mad Men and 30 Rock took their respective categories. No huge surprises there though personally I don't think that 30 Rock is the funniest show on television. It is pretty good though. I can't believe that 2.5 Men keeps getting nominated. Is there blackmail involved?

Mad Men is a great show in many ways but I stopped watching it two episodes before the end of last season. While the acting is superb, the writing is at least as good as the acting, there's incredible production values and fidelity to the time period---but not a single character on the show is likable.  At least on House you have Cameron, Foreman and Wilson to like and Cuddy to sympathize with. As the first season of Mad Men wore on, the writers systematically made each and every character flawed past likability. It might be realistic, but it's not my cup of tea.

The food thing? I dunno. Maybe I should try eating the stuff again. I've spent two weeks just drinking soda and eating only candy, kid's cereal, and potato chips. I think it's starting to catch up to me so on Monday I'll hit the grocery store and start cooking again. It was fun while it lasted...

I personally don't like 30 Rock, but when you say something isn't the funniest, it'd be good to know what you do think is the funniest. So????

As for Two and a Half Men... I have a hard time finding any shows that I think should be nominated. What would you nominate instead?

Food is good, Dave. I'm not cooking much these days and admit that about half of my intake is the wrong stuff. We both should do better...

By the way, what is that picture in your breakfast post. I tried to enlarge it thinking that might help, but it wouldn't enlarge. I won't tell you what I decided it wasn't... your readers don't need their breakfast ruined!

I was wondering where you were. My favorite comedy right now is Big Bang Theory and it wasn't even nominated! It's possible it wasn't eligible yet tho, I'm not sure.

The picture was of some home fries that I'd not quite finished yet. The original photo was quite nice but in this one I used Photoshop to emphasize a piece of potato in the front and to 'push back' the rest of the picture.

I just can't share your enthusiasm for Big Bang Theory - the characters seem a little juvenile to me...

Maybe your eating habits influence your grumpiness quotient? ;-)

Well, duh! They're males in research. Another way of saying arrested adolescents--at best. I should know, I'm in that group. And you work with those sort too, at least indirectly, GG.
