heat and muscles

The past few days a pinched nerve in my neck has been bothering me. Yesterday the resulting painful inflammation in my neck muscles sparked a migraine--which I didn't appreciate at all.

As a result I stayed home from work today and made a quick trip to Wal-mart.

Chris suggested I try Menthol on my neck and shoulder while waiting for the pinched nerve to subside. The heating action would result in more comfort, according to her.

As a result I picked up this Deep Heating ointment which contains 8% Menthol (as well as 30% Methyl Salicylate) and it really does seem to help. The ointment, added to some ibuprofen, has me feeling a lot better. Now if only that nerve would stop firing!

Last night I was gabbing away on the phone much of the evening so my dinner was delayed until after midnight. Normally I'd have just had a snack and skipped the meal but in this case I had meat marinating in the 'fridge and didn't want it to dissolve away. As it was, it spent 8 hours in the marinade which was twice as long as I had intended.

The meat was my second Flat Iron steak, and this time I made mashed potatoes to go with it and the potatoes were a great accompaniment. That is one tasty cut of meat. The next time it goes on sale I'll probably pick up 3 or 4 of them.

I can smell you Dave all the way up here in Idaho!

Actually, when my neck and shoulder bother me I use Tiger Balm...cute little jar...lots of $$$ to buy. But it sure does work.

I'm so sorry about the pinched nerve. They're just awful. I'm a big fan of Deep Heating, but I also highly recommend BioFreeze.

You can only get it from massage artists, chiropractors, etc, but it's AMAZING.

Now, flat iron steak. What is it exactly? It's not the same stuff they use for steak au poivre, is it?

Thats the ointment i've been using on my shoulder. Its not as bad as some other ointments i've tried. I found it doesnt last as long as I would like it to.

I've been craving steak every since I read your last post about it!
