3 day weekend

Here in the US we're about to start on a 3 day weekend due to the Memorial Day holiday. This is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May, this holiday commemorates the men and women who have died in military service to the USA. It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War and later was expanded to include veterans of all conflicts.

This is how I'll be celebrating. Me and a lot of Ben & Jerry's Creme Brulee ice cream. As I posted a few days ago, this is a recent find and I really, really like the flavor. *shiver* I also made some salsa-like filling for some tortillas I'll be eating. I also bought buns for burgers and I got a Wal-mart brownie on clearance. I hope it doesn't kill me--I don't really know why they wanted to get rid of it fast.

Other than eating, I'll be getting some reading done. Outside on my deck when it's comfortable and inside when it's too hot. I'll get some yard work done in the morning when it's cooler but since we're in a slight drought the grass isn't growing much. I picked up 3 DVDs from the library so I might be watching those as well. And I plan on watching the last 10 episodes of 24 from Season 6.

What are your weekend plans???

Even an old, stale brownie is better than no brownie at all.

I'd forgotten it was a holiday weekend. I think we're celebrating by cleaning the house...

Yard work, reading, wrapping a package for my grandniece, staying up late, and watching the documentary "Jesus Camp" to annoy myself. I may try some Creme Brulee ice cream...

I have to admit, I've never had Ben & Jerry's ice cream before. I'll take chocolate almond, if they have it!

I'll probably do a lot of housework as I think it's supposed to rain - ugh. (In KS we're already having flooding problems...) I will visit our local cemetery at some point. Though I have no family there, several veterans are buried there. I like to go out at twilight when no one else is there and have a quiet moment to think about the lives that went before me...

Hi
Michele sent me! And, I admit, I love your name so I just had to stop by and say hi.

I'm in England and we have a long weekend with Monday being a 'Bank Holiday'...don't ask me where the name comes from because I have no idea, but yes; all the banks are closed, along with pretty much everything else.

My in-laws are american though, and I'd love to spend memorial day with them in NY one year..or any american holiday, for that matter! Thanksgiving would be top of my list.

Enjoy the long weekend!!
Well, at least they weren't trying to get rid of brown, gross meat at Walmart! I am amazed at what is allowed to be sold in the meat department.

You look like you spend your Memorial Day the same way I do--this year I will try to be good, but it will involve some serious eating, perhaps of this creme brulee ice cream you have been secretly programmed by Ben and Jerry to push onto we, the unsuspecting blogosphere.

I'm still eating my birthday carrot cake that a friend chef made. It's THE BEST and goes good with vanilla ice cream. I try to eat only about 4 bites a day so I won't get too fat or sleepy.

I've never heard of that kind of Ben and Jerry's. I like heath bar crunch and cherry G. My husband is at an all weekend martial arts event so I will be blasting the music up and dancing around the house cleaning and trying on clothes. Got some things to go to on Sunday, but no plans is my favorite plan. Have fun and don't lket the salsa get in the icecream!

Mmmmm, I love carrot cake, Colleen. Happy belated birthday! My birthday was just last week.

Carli, you're onto me. I'm shilling for the Vermont folk.

I love your name too, Jessica.

Ooooh...that ice cream sounds sinful! I will have to try some.
Sounds like you have a nice, enjoyable, weekend planned.
As for me...Busy, I'm afraid. Getting furniture moved into our new vacation rental home. But I'll squeeze in some "me" time also.
Visiting here from Michele's.....

I'm planning on taking a walk around the river to the location of my new job, to see how long it takes. I don't want to be late on my first day, after all! That creme brulee ice cream sounds delicious. Michele sent me.

Today, I worked all day. Tomorrow, I am not sure yet, because we have a visiting granddaughter who wants to go to the Science Museum and/or a movie. On Monday, we have two choices: a trip to Greensboro/High Point with our son's family and dinner here in Raleigh with friends. To tell the truth, I'd like to do absolutely nothing! (but I would like some of that ice cream!)
Michele sent me tonight.
