big furry rodents found here

I've been invaded by big furry rodents and oddly enough it's not all that bad.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I put up a pile of cut branches not far from my kitchen window so I could watch the birds there. Usually I keep the grass under the branches cut short since I don't want any rats or other rodents to get comfortable too close to my house.

Well, I've fallen behind on the mowing under the pile and look what's marched in! Big nasty furry rodents!

Here's one of them now, looking all alert as he scoots across part of my backlot. Just look at those beady eyes and nasty fangs!

Here's the fellow looking both ways to make sure that he doesn't give away the location of his hideyhole. He's secretive and astute but we have his number!

A-ha! There's the entrance to his new home.
The damn critter is so cute that I tossed some old carrots over there just in case he's hungry. I know, I know. I shouldn't encourage the damn rodent--but he is awful cute!

Speaking of cute. I just ushered in a new tenant over there to the left. Her name is NewfieGirl and she's got a blog that is chock full of cute. From her dog Taco--you have got to see pics of this dog, she even wears a pink sweatshirt in the snow--to her Dad's cat and a recent cheesecake, it's all cute!

I have my own rodent problems. Mr. Clam, to be specific--A woodchuck that my daughter named Mr. Clam when she was four. Now my daughter is seven, and Mr. Clam, who turns out to be a lady, is the size of a modelest brown bear and has three adult children.

I want to be clear about this. I have a garden, and Clam, the fat bastard, is my sworn enemy.

Here from the Mich pit.

I can see why you're torn: they ARE incredibly cute. And I'd be tossing carrots to them, too. Rabbits have always brought me peace...

You really nailed the pictures of your little critter: I've seen far worse imagery in magazines. The next time I see a furry rodent in my backyard, I know who I'm calling.

Hey Utenzi! Michele sent me this time.

Have you named your bunny?

I've never even considered naming the critter. Hmmm. Since it's a wild rabbit I think I'd best just let him be.

Here from Michele.
Hope that bunny doesn't have TOO many cousins here in Virginia Beach. They seem to thrive in the urban area. Early mornings the little furry produce eaters can be seen in three or four yards on our street.

It rained here a little and all day today I've seen rain north, west, and south but not here. At least you couldn't cut the humidity with a knife like you could on Saturday.
