Egypt in blue

Another desktop picture from Photoshop. This time with a sorta-Egyptian theme. It's not pure since I use Greek letters and not hieroglyphics in the background. Sorry to any purists out there. Here's a link to a hieroglyphics translator page. It's interesting.

If you do an image search on Google with the terms "blue" and "Egypt" this is one of the top returns. It's a student made wallpaper and looks nice but I like mine better!

I've got the image at full size (1600x1200) on my desktop for the moment. It's rather peaceful on the eyes. Especially after a few days of the Halloween themed pictures.

I did this picture because Teresa complained that my last one was too busy. So this one is calmer and more contemplative. I tried an earlier version out on my girlfriend and she liked it but I think this version is a little better. What do you think?

I think it's very nice, but you have far too much spare time on your hands my dear friend!!! :o)

What can I say, Yaeli? I just see my girlfriend on weekends so I need to fill up my time during the week.

I think the moon distracts me. Its the ball of string/cat thing I guess. I agree with the stupid comment verification!!!!!!!!!! Unless I have my contacts in and am amped up on coffee I usually have to do the stupid things twice. Thanks for stopping by my blog this weekend:)

I want to get Photoshop. Then again, I'd better wait until I'm really done with school. Gosh, I'd be on the computer all day long! I'd be one of those pathetic lonely people who forget about work, food, kids, dogs and lives quite literally online. OR, maybe I'd become Tron? Oh the possibilities are endless!

PS - I loved your creation. very soothing

Blue is always nice. :-)

I'm not sure what Egypt has to do with anything, but I suppose it's as good a starting point to dig things up as any.

Very nice pic. No spiders. Yea! I have an interest in Egyptology. I've thought about going back to school for that and anthropology.

I am an Egypt freak, utenzi, so anything with heiroglyphics is finewith me!

Love colors, very calming, i'd lose the globe thingy though!

Fattypants & Michelle, Thanks! I can't lose the moon thing though. I love it and besides it took too much time to change it from an orange into a moon. I'll probably be using that until I'm old and gray. Well, old anyway. I already have the gray thing.

Lish & Kenju, I'm glad I found a theme you both like. I wish it'd been a little more true to Egypt. This was a little half-assed thematically. The Egypt hook only occured to me after I'd done all the background stuff. So I just threw a Egyptian graphic in the upper right corner.

Keb, Photoshop is a lot of fun though you can do a lot of the tricks with smaller and less expensive programs.

I think it looks cool. I liked the other one too, made me feel like I was trippin'. ;)

Blame, Lois? No way! I have ineffable feelings, pun intended, towards my new vocabulary. *fuck* See! I'll probably be saying that all day long now. ;-)

Thanks Claire and Jamie!

I really like this one. In fact, it would make a great blog skin. It's interesting, but tranquil.

That's beautiful, very peaceful. Would be gorgeous projected on a screen as a backdrop of some sort...here from Michele's

Wow... calming. I love blue... but my familiarity with hieroglyphics is limited to my humanities book from college! A hieroglyphics translator page - cool! I'll have fun with that! By the way - hello! Michele sent me!

Hi, Michele sent me. The image you've created is very soothing. Given the aesthetic I see at work on your site, I have to ask: Have you seen the film 'Mirrormask' yet? My guess is it's right up your alley.

Also, I can't leave without remarking on what an interesting photo you have linked to the words 'my girlfriend' in this post. I love snapshots, and this one is great. At first, I was grabbed by the constellation shape formed by the reflections in the lower left-hand corner, but the more I look at it, the more I find it most interesting to look directly at the center of the image & allow all the outer elements to rest just outside the focus of gaze.

Thanks so much for all this.

Seeing your Egyptian and Blue photo immediately reminded me of the Egyptian scarab amulet. The sacred scarab is one of the most important amulets in Egypt, and is often blue and sometimes green. It has connotations of well wishing, love, health, the Sun, birth and thngs positive and is commonly seen, even today, as a charm or trinket.

Very nice, but I think the globe is distracting. Maybe if you change the color it'll blend a bit better. Overall - I like.

Hi - I'm here via Michele today. Have a great weekend with your honey!

G8S, thanks! I've not seen the movie Mirrormask--I had to look up a review online to see what it was about. It sounds like a movie with a lot of visual appeal. As for the girlfriend shot, I was quite surprised at how it came out. It's an unedited photo but gives the impression of being a montage.

verrrry nice! how bout losing the globe and putting a crescent moon instead? hello, here via michele today.

With the exception of the moon, I'd say you have winner!
utenzi said…
Nobody likes my moon. *pout* I really do need it. Given the color scheme of my icons I need something darker to put them on--and I keep the icons up in the upper left corner. So that's why the moon is there. For my desktop icons to perch on top of. Actually it's not a moon at all. It's an orange with a lot of filtering added in.
