You don't like boogie wonderland??!! So much for being a liberated child of the 60's! :o)

Michele sent me! Hello!! Good memories of Al Stewart on "Time Passages" during a date!

Hi Yaeli, Anne, and Robin. True, I'm no liberated child of the 60s. Never had that mindset--and I was born early enough to despise disco when it first hit pop culture. I will Survive has a strange charm as does Ring my Bell--but Boogie Wonderland is just ANNOYING! LOL

Hey Michael. I love Al Stewart. Time Passages is just one of 100s of songs of his that I could listen to over and over.

I notice you didn't highlight any of the Village People songs either!!! You've ignored all the party classics and gone for Bob Seeger and Barry Manilow!?

BTW, flattery gets you anywhere! :o)

I'll have to check this out later, but I wonder where I was in the last 70's -- well, I know where I was; I just wonder why I can't recall what some of these songs even are. Some that I do remember, I know I have on albums somewhere. Thanks for the journey down memory lane....

If only you didn't live on the other side of the world, Yaeli. Ships passing in the night and all that. ;-)

Teresa! Are you one of those Anne Rice type vampires? What is this about the last 70s? How many 70s decades have you lived through? (or is that unlived?) Please don't drink my blood--I only have so much of it and I am using it.

Ooo! I have to do this! Thanks!

What ever happened to the great Nigel Olsson?
Anonymous said…
Oh I did his awhile back on my Livejournal. It reminded me that there was little to no good music in 1992.

Here via Michele! Have a lovely day.

that looks like fun, I'll have to try it for 1982

You made me lie again! :o)

It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A...

Going to bed now before I go totally crazy.

I like your list! Much better than mine (1986 grad).... The 86 list features such classics as That's What Friends Are For" (ugh)PArty All the Time by Eddie Murphy (Ugh, ugh) and All Cried Out by Lisa Lisa (Ugh, Ugh, Ugh).

Poor Yaeli. You must be tired--you've been working Michele's list for nearly 12 hours now! Get some sleep--after all, this is a 4 day weekend instead of the normal 3 so you have plenty of time. :-)

I just burst out laughing when I saw the song, "Making It", by David Naughton. I used to love that song/show and had such a crush on him as a kid! I did the same meme the other day...1984.

Nice picks! But I would have bolded a couple others. It wasn't a terribly crappy year. Just think of the kids today doing this MEME in a couple decades. hahaha!
Have a great weekend!

1979 was the year disco died. And it was a sudden and vicious send off. On the Billboard singles list, Good Times(#20 on this list) was the last #1 disco single followed by My Sharona and disco went away. The music didn't get better (Pina Colada Song anyone?), but it wasn't disco.

{{{blushing}}} I was like 3 years old in 79. I recognixed more names than I did songs.

Hi from Michele's. I too was a 1979. My favorite from around then was "I will survive" by Gloria Gainer. Least favorite from around that time was bungle in the jungle.

HAHAHA great meme. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. And yeah, some real bad ones on that list hehe.

Great meme! Now I'll have to try that out.

The lovely Michele sent me, of course.

Cheers!

This list is full of songs I adore mostly for their ironic value, and a few I really do like just for themselves. A live version of "I Want You to Want Me" was a source of endless amusement to my teenage mind.

Oh, and Michele sent me. Hours ago in fact, but my computer was having troubles.
