I was reading Stanislav Lem (you must try his works if you haven't already), Clarke, Asimov, Heinlein and so on and so forth from the moment I could read the real books with no pictures ;)

I don't know whether my layman-interest in science is a result of my interest in science fiction, or the other way around.

I had top grades in chemistry, physics and biology at school... until the first two started to involve too much algebra. I suck at maths. It would be tempting to blame my math teacher - she was literally sadistic and used to hit me with a stick and call me an ugly fat cannonball (I went to a Soviet-style school). I didn't take chemistry and physics any further, but I graduated with biology as one of my subjects in the Finnish national matriculation exams.

I really enjoy reading popular science books and I often buy New Scientist. It looks comical next to my Marie Claire. ;)
