Deck Farming

A few weeks ago while at Wal-mart, Julie and I picked up some plants. She picked up several spice plants like rosemary and sage and I picked up a green pepper plant.

Julie's been using the leaves from her spice plants for a while now but my peppers are only starting to get some size on them. But in a few more weeks... they'll be on the grill getting all tender and sweet. Yum.

My peppers are just blossoming... I'm nowhere near harvest. Other than parsley, I don't really use much of the herbs planted in the herb garden. I'm not really a fan of herbs... sometimes, I'll add them if a recipe says to, but generally end up omitting them when I do the recipe a second time. There are herbs out there though... as well as catnip. I haven't had a cat in two years, but the catnip continues....

I am plagued with marauders though. Something (probably a ground hog, but as I've only seen this thing briefly and I describe it as a fat ferret with quill looking fur just along it's spine. What would you call that?) is eating my plants. Half the lettuce bed disappeared this spring (it doesn't seem to like spinach), as well as a bunch of the cucumber plants and a few of the green beans. It also digs in the onion bed, pulls out a few and leaves them there. It's annoying, but fascinating too....
We've got potatos and carrots growing at the moment :)
