Midnight Rendezvous

I had a meeting in the wee hours of the night, arranged, delayed, and rearranged at the last minute. Midnight at a Waffle House.

While it does sound vaguely sordid it was actually on the up and up. My middle nephew graduated from some Coast Guard thingy yesterday and his family was driving back to Georgia to spend a week together before he moves on to his next post. Since their drive would be close to me at one point, I arranged to meet them for a few minutes. They were delayed quite a bit in DC traffic--we had originally planned on having dinner together at 8pm.

Since they still had 6 hours to drive, the rendezvous was far too short.

It was funny seeing my nephew with such short hair. It was only a short time ago that he was considering being a model--and actually won an award for some photos he modeled for in LA--and he was quite fussy about his hair. That's him over there on the left. Before his head was shaved.

After they left to continue their journey, I went in to the Waffle House and had a burger and double hash browns. I love the hash browns there. They serve them almost raw and that's the way I like my potatoes. Barely cooked and with loads of ketchup on them. And now I have to get back to cleaning my place up. My parents are arriving in the morning--they weren't about to drive all through the night--and I definitely have a lot of straightening up to do before their arrival.

He is cute!

I haven't had Waffle House in yeeearrs...we'd go after a night at a club or band or something. Oh those hash browns with onions...is it scattered and smothered? I don't know the terms anymore!

Your nephew's cute... :) Ok, not really serious...

Your story reminds me of how my relatives were supposed to be visiting, and then got lost for some time on the way... Ended up late...

I love hash browns too! I buy the ready made ones and fry them by myself...

Have a nice day...

Too bad you didn't get a pic of him with short, short hair! It's amazing how much hair changes our appearance.

Hash browns good, ketchup bad.

Have a good visit with your parents :)

I miss the Waffle House. And now I'm craving their hash browns (sans the ketchup...) and a couple of fried eggs.

Someone needs to open one out here...
