A day to celebrate

Mozilla is coming out with a new version of it's very popular web browser soon. Right now they're alpha testing Gran Paradiso Alpha 1 which will eventually replace Firefox. I downloaded it yesterday and so far it's worked like a charm. Since it's in alpha release, I expect to eventually have some issues, of course. With this release, Mozilla is no longer supporting Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME. And so it goes...

Gran Paradiso, for what it's worth, is the highest mountain group in the Graian Alps, located in the Aosta Valley region of Italy. It was also the name of a German film (2000) about a crippled fellow that wanted to climb the mountain in the Alps. And now it's the name of a piece of software. And so it goes...

Here in the US, we're celebrating the aptly named holiday, the 4th of July. Admittedly that's not a very exciting title but when it was coined Madison Avenue wasn't filled to the brim with marketing agencies. They didn't have the monetary incentive to be as creative back in 1776 with names. I wonder what they would have called it if there were ad execs back then? Hmmm. Boston Tea Party was already taken... and that sounds too British anyway. Maybe Hancock Day? Were it not for his time and money the Revolutionary War would not have gotten off the ground.

Anyway, happy Independence Day...

When I was here earlier, I didn't notice the people on top of the Alps in your pic. What a view they had!

Are yo having an exciting 4th? I am. I just finished pruning a badly overgrown forsythia and moving 2 pieces of furniture...LOL
MNichele sent me this afternoon.

Thanks everyone. I'm just grilling a few burgers today, Sassy, that's what I had for dinner last night too.

Judy, sad to say but it sounds like you're getting more done today than I am. I've been very lazy lately.

Sue, no BBQ or watermelon but I'm having a few burgers over charcoal. I just lit up the grill a few minutes ago.

I might go through this valley in 10 days, Utenzi. On our way from Genoa to the French Alps, won't hike that high, though :)

What? You're having burgers two days in a row? That's a sure path to a heart attack some day, Dave. You should take better care of yourself. Michele told me to say that.

Thanks for coming and reading my story.
You are right, it's very sad that a baby died. It was his 3 week old baby boy. C got mad, was drinking and lost it. The baby did not die right away.
Thanks again for visiting my blog and commenting.

I like this header... texture, perhaps? Who knows... just trying to keep the computer going here. I need a geek... it has been putting itself in sleep mode at the drop of a hat and then sleeps too soundly and can't be awakened by mouse or keyboard. I cleaned it out with air and made sure all the attachments were tight and still.... two minutes of operation after everything loads and it nods off.... computer narcolepsy. I thought perhaps a fan is out, so right now the tower is on its side with the back facing a tilted pedestal fan that is laying on top of all the back grates. So far it has been working for two hours... perhaps I should be a computer troubleshooter in my next life. Definitely not going to be a furniture mover or a lawn guy/girl!
