A hearty meal before I go

One of my favorite meats is sweet Italian sausage. I love it on pizza, on a bun, or like below, as the base for a pasta sauce.

In this case I used a little butter to saute the sausage and once there was a little color on them I added half an onion and half a Bell pepper. Once the onions were translucent I added the jar of tomato sauce you can see in the upper right.

Sure, it's not as good as real home-made sauce but I'm lazy and it's good enough for me. I only add a little spice to the sauce after that since the sausage adds a little zest already. Just some paprika and thyme.

I'm looking forward to some kayaking over the next few days but it'll be wet since there's a lot of rain forecast. Nothing like cold rain to make sure you paddle fast--just to keep warm!

I love those sausages too, Dave, and I put them in spaghetti sauce or grill them and serve on a bun. Ummmmm, good!

Michele sent me - and now I am hungry again!
Looks quite delicous just as is---even before the tomatoe sauce has been added....

About Hanukkah...It was certainly an important Holiday in our house and as Important Jewish Holidays go, it is right up there with all the rest! What made you think it wasn't that important? It absolutely was and is!

Looks delicious...and sounds like a great trip. Would love to kayaking...or white water rafting this weekend! Hmm...can you blog from your kayak? :)

Sounds good! So does Kayaking. Is there enough rapids left on the Haw River to make it worthwhile anymore (last time I paddled it was around 1980, they were logging and the waters for the B. Evertt Jordan lake was beginning to back up. You'll have to tell us about your river trips.

Kayaking sounds good, lots of good pictures. Rain yes, but it is warm and should it cool down.... I SEE FOG IN YOUR FUTURE.... love fog, love fog pictures. Have to run... got the girl back from college and she is going to cook supper.... oh, boy! Also she has done zero shopping as her last exam was Wednesday. So I am out into the lines. I WLL NOT GO TO WALMART TODAY!!! (keep repeating this)

I'm not a sausage person, but I bet that smells good. Will you be posting kayaking photos?

I still love the idea of the sausage, but I went to Chick Fil A with my daughter and granddaughter for lunch and it didn't agree with me - so now I cannot even consider the sausage!!

Michele sent me.

A rain to make one paddle fast. I can relate to that. Throw in a bit of lightning and I can cut the paddle in at sonic speed. ;)
