it's a car

Yes, I now have a new car. They didn't have what I wanted in stock in Durham so they had to go fetch one from Charlotte, a little over 2 hours away, so I wasn't able to pick it up until a little after 9pm. They loaned me a car from off the lot so I went home around 5pm, after filling out all the paperwork and cleaning out my truck. I live 35 minutes away from the dealership so I had 3.5 hours to wait until I could pick it up.

That's me below next to the car. This was just before Michael, the salesman, locked up the dealership and went with me to a gas station to give the car a complimentary fill-up. We finished up at 10pm and then I went home. I like the way the car handles and the feel of the car. It's got a stiff suspension and tight steering, both of which I like. I also test drove a Santa Fe but didn't like it at all. Had a luxury car feel to the ride and I like to feel every bump in the road. I hate feeling isolated from the pavement.

2006 Hyundai Elantra GT. 5 doors with leather and sunroof. And a flashy blue color! Now I'm off to take a one hour nap and then pack for the trip to SC. I'm leaving at 3am so as to arrive at 7am. Just in time to get in a paddle on the lake!

congratulations! Nice ride. I thought about leather when we moved here and (thankfully) decided against it. The last thing I need is a hot seat to sweat in on the drive home!

SO you can drive me around now right?

Noi, I choose the color to please you in the hopes that you'd cross the ocean wide and take a ride with me in my new car. Come on over!

Keb, while I really like leather, an even bigger factor is how succeptable I am to the nasty smell of the chemicals they use on the fabric that cars have. I have headaches for the first few months I have a car--which is why I opt for leather whenever I can. Why does all this talk of leather get me breathing faster, Keb?

You LIKE feeling every bump in the road? Then you should have bought my old car (it needs shocks) ...LOL

Thanks, everyone. The blue was my second choice, I wanted the burgandy, but there were only 2 GT's available with automatic in the state so I picked the blue one. I do like the color though--but it's a little too much like my old truck in color. I'd have liked a change...

You sure had to go a long way to buy a car. Nice car and a great price too! I miss having a sunroof!

May you drive your new wheels in good health and much happiness. I am thrilled for you, because I know how much the old truck's reliability - OK, lack thereof - was concerning you in recent months.

I absolutely love your vehicle. From the type (I'm a sucker for hatchbacks) to the make (Hyundai consistently tops J.D. Power's surveys these days) and the equipment level (the sunroof, in my view, makes the car. I'll never have another car without one.) We always knew you had great taste. This seals it.
