it's all about strategy

We commonly consider how important strategy is in human endeavor. Politics, business and of course sports. However the strategies we use in human activity is all based on ancient survival actions that were learned in the hard knocks school or eat or be eaten.

Let these following pictures show just how innate those strategies are.

If you're smaller--and fuzzier--perhaps a frontal approach isn't the best idea.

Move around, seek higher ground. Do the unexpected. And most important...

...don't let Mom tell on you.

Getting in to position might be scary--doing the unexpected often is--but don't be dissuaded.

Persevere. Make the world adapt to you, don't you adapt to them.

Once you get a strategic advantage--higher ground in this case--take full advantage of it. Don't let your prey catch on to your strategy.

Keep the element of surprise. Have a final goal in mind but be willing to modify your plan as needed. Often battle plans have to be changed and quickly.

Book learning can often lead to good strategies but don't let dry theory entirely rule your thinking. Stay on top of the books but keep your eye on your prey as well.

When you have your final goal in sight, maintain your balance. Don't hurry.

Measure your actions against your needs and ensure you don't over extend yourself.

Being too fast can lead to failure but so can indecision. A born predator will be able to tread between those two paths.

Leap.

Tonight you eat, tomorrow will bring another hunt.

I am loving the narratives as well as the pictures. I want the kitty-baby! I miss the playfulness of kittens...my two are slug-a-bugs and just lounge in the sun.

Chris, man do I ever agree with you there. My sinus' were killing me last night. All through the Carolina game (and the preceding Duke loss--awwwww!) I was dying!

Lois, cats are food. :-p

Noi, thanks!

How cute! My cats are 9 yrs old and they don't get up on too much furniture anymore, since they are too fat to jump. I miss having kittens around!

Too cute! Kinda makes you wonder what those kitties get up to when you're NOT looking! I like Fluffy's strategy of waiting for someone else to knock over the cat food. >:-)

People definitely have the wrong impression of me. Personally I think cats are food. Good to keep around, perhaps, in case of food shortages.

The cats in the pictures belonged to the real estate woman that helped me find my house. I was lucky enough to be watching when the stalking took place and just happened to get the female kitten in the beginning of her leap.

LOL! Words of wisdom to be sure! My own 3 cats are infamous for getting at food - we have to store it in a cupboard because they will literally chew through the bag to get at the food, even though their bowls are full of perfectly good food at the time.

Very cute kitties though :D
