music meme

I was at a site last week and the meme was to post 5 songs that had titles that were questions. I wish I could credit the site but I have no idea where I saw it. Sorry!

Anyway, I'll post 13 titles of songs that I particularly like with questions in the titles and you can follow up with more titles of songs. 5 would be a good number but anything you want to add is fine. I'm not going to tag anyone with this but it's okay with me if you do!
  • "What Have They Done to My Song, Ma?" Melanie
  • "Am I Losing You?" Jim Reeves
  • "Who Do You Love?" George Thorogood and the Destroyers
  • "Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home?" Mitch Miller
  • "Do You Believe In Magic?" The Lovin' Spoonful
  • "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" Chicago
  • "Have You Seen Her?" The Chi-Lites
  • "What's Going On" Marvin Gaye
  • "Have You Never Been Mellow?" Olivia Newton-John
  • "Is This Love?" Whitesnake
  • "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?" The Clash
  • "What About Love?" Heart
  • "Why Don't You Get a Job?" The Offspring
I really love Jim Reeves' voice but he didn't do many songs before dying. In a plane crash, I think. His duets with Patsy Cline are particularly good though they were patched together in the studio and made nearly 20 years after both were dead. The Lovin' Spoonful were one of my favorite bands when I was a kid. I think one of their albums was the second one I ever bought. A K-tel collection was the first. For the song Pretty Lady by Lighthouse, I think.

The oldest song is the Mitch Miller who dates back to the Big Band era and long before I was born. Bill Bailey has been recorded by 100s of artists but that's the version I remember best. The Offspring's Why don't you get a Job is the most recent and I love the humor...as well as the pathos within it.

I too love Big Bands and the old Standards...they don't make music like they used to!
Here via Michele's, but I'd like to thank you for your kind comment on my blog this morning.
Have a great day!

Great list and interesting topic for a meme. I'll have to just go ahead and tag myself if I run dry of blog-fodder in the next little while. Here from Michele's.

I love that song by the Offspring. Sorry I can't think of any songs. Oh, How Do I Live by either Trisha Yearwood or LeAnn Rimes, take your pick.

They definitely don't make songs like they used to. I hope today's generation eventually comes to appreciate the influence of those who have come before.

My wife and I went to a swing concert at the orchestral hall last year...it was magical. And Guy Lombardo's hometown is...London!

Back from Michele's. Awesome to see you again, Utenzi.

No problem, Destiny Anne.

You did great, GPV. I especially like the Earnie Ford song. "I owe my soul to the company store" Though I always thought it sounded like he said 'company stove'
